‘The White Lotus’ abruptly cuts ties with Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter has officially been taken off of the popular drama The White Lotus, seemingly for creative reasons.

The Fight Club actress has not issued a statement regarding her departure but a spokesperson for HBO has spoken on the matter a little over a week the show started filming for season 4.

“With filming just underway on Season 4 of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” the person said to Deadline.

“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon,” they added.

As per the outlet, this is rare for the show since the writer, White, casts people with intention and precision so the recasting is rare.

Insiders claim that the creator ‘s vision for the character did not align with what he originally conceived which is why they had to part with Carter.
