Victoria Beckham, best known as Posh Spice, has opened up about a deeply personal moment from her time with the legendary girl group, the Spice Girls.
The 51-year-old fashion designer revealed she was “upset” by a comment made by Mel B during their 2007 to 2008 reunion tour, admitting it was the point she realised her life on stage had come to an end.
In her new Netflix documentary, she recalled how Scary Spice told her, “Don’t forget where you come from,” during the Return of the Spice Girls tour.
“One of the girls actually said to me – and it did upset me – it was Melanie B who said that,” she shared.
“I’ve never forgotten that Posh Spice is the reason I’m sitting here. She might have been grumpy, but she was actually great.”
Victoria also revealed it was her husband, David Beckham, who convinced her to join the reunion, saying, “David was like, ‘It’s really good for the kids to see you do this.’”
The former footballer added that their children had never seen their mum perform as a Spice Girl.
Reflecting on her decision not to rejoin the group for the 2019 Spice World tour, Victoria admitted revisiting her pop career was “triggering.”
“I’ve been defined by a four-year period in my life,” she explained. “It was almost like therapy talking about it.”
Despite the emotional memories, she said she remains grateful for her time in the band.
“I love the Spice Girls,” she said. “I’m proud of everything we achieved.”
