Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari has spoken out after reports the pop superstar has checked into a rehab facility, saying he thinks it’s “great” news for her recovery.
The 32-year-old model, who split from Britney just over a year after their June 2022 marriage, said he supports anything focused on healing, as long as the decision comes from the individual.
Speaking to TMZ, he said: “I think it’s great. I think anything that has anything to do with healing and great things… and as long as the person is in charge of that, it’s all great.”
Sam also admitted he has not been in contact with the Toxic hitmaker recently, confirming when asked if they had spoken: “Uh, no.”
Just days after Britney’s arrest in March on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura, California, Sam had already called for privacy.
He urged the media to be more respectful following what he described as “mistakes,” and asking for space for her to heal.
Meanwhile, her ex-husband Kevin Federline, father to her sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, has also shown support.
His attorney said Kevin is “happy” she is getting help and hopes she follows through with any treatment plan.
Reports suggest Britney’s sons played a major role in encouraging her to seek professional support, with insiders saying they were “clear” they just want their mum to be healthy.
