Zohran Mamdani comments on Taylor Swift wedding speculation

Zohran Mamdani has revealed fresh details about the city’s packed 2026 calendar, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported wedding plans.

Speaking on Monday about World Cup 2026 planning, the NYC mayor noted that tournament preparations, Independence Day celebrations, and Swift’s rumored wedding are expected to coincide.

“I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD, as well as our state partners, in delivering that safe experience,” he said.

Highlighting New York’s reputation for hosting large scale events, he added,

“We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one.”

Moreover, he pointed to the city’s recent surge of energy following major sporting moments, saying it felt like “a city coming to life” during events such as the Knicks’ playoff celebrations and the Brazil vs. Morocco World Cup match at MetLife Stadium.

When asked if he had received an invitation to Swift and Kelce’s wedding, Mamdani responded, “No and no.”

He added, “I wish them a lovely wedding.”

The mayor's candid response quickly caught the attention of Swift's fanbase online.

"Honestly, streaming 'Only The Young' alone in your living room is the most relatable response to not getting a celebrity wedding invite," one user wrote on X.

"He turned an awkward question into a meme instantly," added another.
