The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens up about their experience on set with Anna Wintour.
The project got lucky with accomplishing one of the most difficult feature with the Vogue head, who served as an inspiration for film's lead, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).
In a conversation with the Entertainment Weekly, Anna Hathaway, who is reprising her role as Andy Sachs in sequel, said, “It was so fun. She does not get enough credit for what a spectacular sense of humour she has.”
She recalled Wintour coming to set for a day, during which she “hung out for a little bit, her wonderful daughter came with her, and we had a little fun, shot a little bit, it was great!"
Streep also chimed in, confirming, “Yeah, it was fun" working with her recently discovered relative.
However, despite her cameo, the film’s director David Frankel elaborated in another interview with the outlet on why the fashion powerhouse's scene didn't end up in the final cut.
He said that since the Prada world was parallel to original one, it won’t fit well to have two fashion moguls in one frame.
"What is Vogue and who is Anna Wintour in a world where there's a Runway and Miranda Priestly?" adding that “It felt like it was too meta and would be distracting."
He also shared what happened with Wintour during production, "Unfortunately, she jumped her cue, so she’s a little out of focus in the one shot that we did. I didn’t want to call for take two; I didn’t know if she had the patience for that!"
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated for release on May 1.
