Russell Brand 'justifies' intimate relationship with teenager

Russell Brand, former romantic partner of Katy Perry, made a shocking confession on The Megyn Kelly Show.

The comedian, who is now 50 years old, admitted he has been intimate with a 16-year-old back when he was 30.

He shared the reason why he "slept" with a young girl, insisting that the “age of consent” in the United Kingdom is 16.

The Despicable Me star tried explaining that he “was a very different person and immature” at that age.

According to him, the “consensual sex with a variety of people” varies “when you are a famous man and have the ability to attack women.”

However, Russell admitted that the act was exploitative,” recognising his “sexual conduct in the past was selfish.”

The podcaster was of the opinion that he “did not consider” how his sexual relation “was affecting other people.”

The remarks sparked fury amongst the online community with one of the Instagram user noting: “The fact that he’s trying to justify it.”

Another netizen slammed him for his views, writing: “It always ‘the age of consent’ excuse. Teenagers are not mentally developed enough to know” they are being exploited.
