Tina Fey is giving behind-the-scenes insight on her time from Saturday Night Live as well as how the show comes up with political jokes and its limits.

The comedian was a key figure on the sketch comedy show in the past and is a recurring guest now and recently took a trip down memory lane to some of the heavier current events they covered.

Speaking during History Talks, the two-time Golden Globe winner dished, “I started there in 1997, and I was there when we had to come back for the first show after September 11 and try to figure out what that show could be.”

Fey then recalled that the President at the time, George W. Bush had come around to meet Will Ferrell and also on her years on the program adding that the more time she spent at SNL she realised that the veil between its relation to current events became thinner.

“It’s a thrilling and almost scary thing to have this idea that something you say will be heard by person in charge. I mean, I’ve made jokes, but also, I was pretty dumb and not much better now, but there’s jokes that I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I was on the wrong side of that,'” Fey added.

The 55-year-old went on to say that the sketch comedy show draws the line at attempting to control the narrative and politics and plan what they call a fair hit.
