Tina Fey has been a fan favourite on the beloved sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, which appears to be the reason why she is set to host the first episode of the show’s UK version.

The two-time Golden Globe winner joined the cast of the British version of the show to help them market the show, by playing Mary Poppins.

In the teaser sketch, the Mean Girls actress descended awkwardly from the set rafters dressed as the fictional character.

“Gather round children. Nanny’s here with everything you need for a practically perfect- you know what, I’m gonna drop the voice,” Fey began, referring to the British accent she decided to drop for her natural American one.

The comedian then told the cast that she had everything they’d need for the debut and pulled out items like wigs, an extra-tall lamp, a crown (“In case you wanna do royal stuff”), an extremely long shoe, an eel pie and surprisingly, the Epstein Files from her bag.

Cast member Emma Sidi then interrupted Fey to say that they just wanted her help with promotion to which the latter revealed that she agreed to host because she wanted dual citizenship, which she did not get despite asking the entire cast to marry her.

The SNL alum then awkwardly and abruptly leaves, while the sketch made clear that the debut episode will launch on March 21st on Sky One at 10 p.m. GMT (2 p.m. PT) and Peacock the following day.
