Dax Shepard apparently had a complex relationship with the Grey’s Anatomy actor Eric Dane, with the two even getting in a physical altercation once.
The comedian revealed that he met the late actor in AA meetings, which stands for Alcoholics Anonymous, and recalled how they got in a fight.
In a conversation with Anderson Cooper at the New Orleans Book Festival last month, the 51-year-old said that the duo hated each other and that he thought the 53-year-old was a bully.
Shepard said that during a meeting, Dane "threatened a younger member of the group, and this had been simmering for a long time, and I said, ‘Let’s go. Outside. Right now.’ It was on. And we walked outside to a fist fight in the driveway of an AA meeting.”
The Parenthood actor added that the fight was broken up by other members in the meeting and that they kept coming back to the same meeting and over the course of two years his relationship with the now-deceased actor improved.
“I remember he had his share one time and I said, ‘I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but that’s one of my favorite shares I’ve ever heard.’ Maybe a week or two later, one of his shares, he said, ‘I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but I think I’ve come to fall in love with Dax,' " Shepard added of Dane.
The father-of-two dished that having the shared trauma of not having a father figure with the ALS afflicted star, and their addiction issues helped them bond.
