The Princess of Wales previously told patients during a visit to Colchester Hospital that many people expect life to simply snap back to normal once treatment is over, but in reality the post-treatment phase can be “really, really difficult”.
She described finding a “new normal” as a roller coaster rather than a straight path forward.

Munn, who underwent multiple surgeries for an “aggressive” form of breast cancer, admitted she often compared her recovery to others and felt isolated when her symptoms did not match those around her.
“I thought I was the only one getting this,” she said, adding that hearing other survivors speak openly had been deeply reassuring.
