Hip-hop titan Jay-Z has weighed in on the explosive feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, and he’s not holding back.

The 56-year-old rapper admitted the long-running clash hasn’t been “helpful” to the culture, despite rap battles once being a core part of hip-hop’s DNA.

Speaking candidly, Jay said while lyrical sparring used to be exciting, today’s social media-fuelled rows have taken things to a darker level.

At the centre of the drama is Kendrick’s blistering diss track Not Like Us, which sent shockwaves through the industry with its brutal accusations.

But Niggas in Paris hitmaker believes the fallout has gone far beyond music, turning fans into divided camps and fuelling personal attacks.

He explained that hip-hop’s original “four pillars”, breakdancing, graffiti, DJing and battling, have evolved, with battling now feeling more toxic than thrilling.

According to the rap mogul, fans now “pick sides” so fiercely that it damages artists’ reputations regardless of the music they release.

Jay didn’t shy away from calling out the intensity either, warning that dragging families and personal lives into the feud crosses a line.

In his view, the culture risks “taking steps backwards” as online discourse spirals out of control.

Young Forever singer even questioned whether battling still has a place in modern hip-hop, suggesting collaborations could push the genre forward instead of tearing it apart.
