Miley Cyrus has opened up about Taylor Swift’s surprising role in Hannah Montana: The Movie as she celebrated the show’s 20th anniversary.

Speaking at the premiere of the special, now streaming on Disney+, the Flowers hitmaker reflected on the Shake It Off hitmaker's cameo during a barn party scene, where she performed her song “Crazier.”

“So the way that Taylor Swift ended up in the Hannah Montana movie was because this was kind of the beginning of her career, and they were looking for someone that would authentically — no shade, I guess — be performing in a barn,” she said.

However, her contribution didn’t stop there, as the Malibu trackmaker also sings “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” penned by Swift, and featured at the end of the film.

Praising the track, the pop star-turned-actress added, “Credit where credit’s due. Banger.”

The Wrecking Ball singer also opened up about her own journey, revealing she was initially turned down for the role before being invited back to Los Angeles a year later, ultimately securing the part.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus’s mother Tish Cyrus helped create an opportunity for Billy Ray Cyrus to join the show although his easygoing nature nearly cost him the role after he encouraged other dads to audition as well.
