Chappell Roan breaks silence on hotel incident with 11-year-old fan

Chappell Roan has hit back at claims she used a security guard to frighten a young fan, insisting she doesn’t “hate children.”

The drama unfolded at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil, where Jorginho Frello’s 11-year-old step-daughter, Ada, caught a glimpse of the 28-year-old singer over breakfast.

Jorginho, the Chelsea midfielder, and Ada’s mother, Catherine Harding, claimed the child was intimidated by an “extremely aggressive” security guard.

In a series of Instagram posts, the family said Ada merely smiled at Chappell before the guard confronted them, accusing Ada of harassment, leaving the youngster in tears.

The pop singer, however, insists she had nothing to do with the incident.

Posting a video on Instagram, she said the security guard “was not my personal security” and that she “didn’t even see a woman and a child.”

She added: “I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy… I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone assumed something unfairly.”

Catherine Cavelli, meanwhile, clarified that the guard wasn’t hotel staff, though she was unsure whether he worked for the songstress personally.

Jorginho, in his statement, appealed to the Good Luck, Babe! singer, urging her to consider how the incident affected his daughter.

“At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this,” he wrote.

“I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.”

The row has sparked a debate about celebrity security and fan encounters, with many questioning whether young admirers should face such intimidation for a simple smile.
