Nicolas Cage, who was set to quit acting and end his long-term successful career, recently made a surprising confession.
Now opening up about his name changing habit, he revealed why he changed his first name last year.
It is to be noted that at the start of his career, the American actor changed his last name from Nicolas Coppola to Nicolas Cage.
Talking about the situation, he revealed to Variety, "I am Nick Cage. I changed my name legally last year."
He added, "I’m Nick Cage in life, and I’m Nick Cage on camera. ‘This better to be the patriarch of my own little family than the clown cousin on the margins of someone else’s, so I decided I’m going to bring it on and be Cage,"
Notably, the Spider Noir actor is a relative of famous director Francis Ford Coppola and didn't want to be represented by someone else but himself.
The 62-year-old star also opened up where his inspiration for the name came from, "Cage is a name that I liked coming across in the comics - I just thought he had a cool name - and I grew up in a very avant-garde, artsy family and there was talk about [composer/artist] John Cage and the experimental compositions that he did."
He continued that he likes his last name as it is "short and sweet" and shortening his first name also made him feel "like a superhero."
