'Bridgerton' star Ruth Gemmell reveals she ‘cried’ after unexpected intimate scene
'Bridgerton' season 5's production has officially begun in March, 2026
Bridgerton star, Ruth Gemell, also known as “Lady Bridgerton”, recently revealed what a great emotional turmoil she went through after one particular scene.
Season four of the famous Netflix series has brought on many new scenarios which were never seen or expected before by the fans.
One of them involves the mother of the Bridgerton Clan getting intimate with her lover and moving on from the memory of her dead husband, Edmund.
Although the viewers saw it coming, the intimate scene shocked everyone, including the cast.
It was revealed by Ruth, that during “getting ready” for the scene, she realized that it was, in fact, a sex scene, which she was not ready for.
She confessed that it caused her such a great deal of distress that she later “went home and cried” because of it.
The 58-year-old admitted to Ciné-Télé-Revue in a recent interview, “I was a little bit shocked, I was in a costume fitting, and I realised that I was being fitted for something that I had no idea was going to happen.”
The English actress also added, “Thankfully, we tackled this one in a slightly different way to the kids of the show, because I don't think anyone would want to watch that really.”
Ruth stated that she had to somehow digest the information and let the production begin, which was filmed her way so she felt comfortable with that.
She continued, adding her opinion to the character’s step towards what she really wants, “We don't die after a certain age. So, it's quite nice to kind of represent that.”
“It's very lovely to see young love and love for the first time, but it's also very important and lovely to see somebody who has loved and lost and grieved and comes with a myriad of baggage, because everyone can identify with that, and I think that's important to show.” the Home Fires star concluded.
It is to be noted that the production of Bridgerton season five has officially begun.
