Justin Timberlake has won a temporary legal victory to keep footage of his 2024 arrest under wraps.
The 45-year-old pop superstar was pulled over in Sag Harbor, New York, last June after allegedly running a stop sign and swerving between lanes.
He later pleaded guilty to a traffic violation and driving while ability impaired.
Now, the singer’s legal team has successfully secured a temporary restraining order to prevent police body camera footage from being released to the public.
According to Variety, Suffolk County Judge Joseph Farneti approved the move on Thursday, giving officials in Sag Harbor until April 9 to submit further documentation.
The footage, Timberlake’s lawyers argue, shows the In Time actor “in an acutely vulnerable state” and captures “intimate details” of his appearance.
Speaking to Page Six, Friends with Benefits star’s attorney Michael Del Piano said releasing the video would cause “severe and irreparable harm” to the star’s personal and professional reputation.
Notably, potentially subjecting him to “public ridicule and harassment.”
Del Piano added that there was “no legitimate public interest” in the footage, branding its disclosure an “unwarranted invasion” of Timberlake’s privacy.
The Justified singer insists he had only consumed a single alcoholic drink before getting behind the wheel.
Speaking outside court, he urged fans to learn from his mistake.
