Christina Applegate, known for her role in Married... with Children, recently voiced her experience with autoimmune disease.
The 54-year-old claimed that her war with multiple sclerosis not only has changed her health, but also her life in general.
In her next memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, actress, she reflected on how the degenerative condition took away her motivation to please others.
The veteran star disclosed the news of her MS diagnosis back in 2021 via X prior to shooting the final season of Dead to Me.
Recently she was able to reflect on what the degenerative condition has taken away: her motivation to please others.
Moreover, in The Guardian interview, she called herself a "honesty missile" , adding, "When your physical situation deteriorates, and your life shrinks to the size of a king-sized bed, suddenly all the things you thought were important shift, too.”
Applegate stated that her diagnosis compelled her to re-evaluate her long established practices, especially the need to be pleasant with women.
“I won’t lie any more, be the good girl, and say that any of this is a blessing ...” she replied, disapproving of the notion of sugar-coating her experience.
The star even confessed that she is too tired to engage in superficial niceties. “All this has left me unable to be polite any more – it’s boring and it takes too much energy.”
In addition to the memoir, Applegate has introduced Next in MS, a new online platform that aims to establish open dialogues and mutual help among multiple sclerosis patients.
Her memoir will be out on shelves on March 3.
