Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez did not take part in the 2026 Actor Awards in Los Angeles on March 1.

The Only Murders in the Building stars, who are all nominated were absent in the ceremony.

Notably, Martin and Gomez were said to have skipped the event in support of their co-star going through such a rough time.

As PEOPLE confirmed, the cast mates did not even attend the ceremony following the tragedy in the family.

The 75-year-old Canadian comedian and actor recently faced the death of his daughter, Katherine.

The absence was noticed during the performance by having presenter Jenna Ortega read out the nominations in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

Other nominees were presented by displaying them in the audience but Short was depicted by a still picture.

Seth Rogen ended up winning the award and the three were also nominated in the voting category Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series as the audience anticipates the next sixth season of the show.

Katherine Hartley Short lost her life on February 23 when she died at age 42.

Her death was confirmed in a statement by the family, “The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time.”

Continuing, “Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
