Manchester Orchestra fans have been left heartbroken after the band confirmed the sudden death of their drummer, Tim Very, aged 42.
The group shared the tragic news on Instagram on Saturday, paying tribute to the musician they called a “beloved human being” and a “force of positivity.”
“Tim was instantly likable,” the band wrote.
“He interacted with everyone he met with kindness and warmth. His laugh was infectious and he immediately made people feel invited and encouraged.”
The post went on to describe how his humour and energy were “the very foundation that held together the entire MO universe,” turning strangers into friends and friends into family.
For the unversed, Very joined Manchester Orchestra in 2011, taking over from Jeremiah Edmond, and played on every album since Simple Math.
His final live performance with the band was at Atlanta’s The Eastern in November 2025, and he also contributed to their 2021 album The Million Masks of God.
Bandmates Andy Hull, Robert McDowell and Andy Prince remembered him as a devoted father and musician: “No words can ever do him justice… the only thing Tim loved more than creating music was being with his family. You’d be pressed to find a more joyful dad.”
A cause of death has not been disclosed.
Fans and fellow musicians alike have flooded social media with condolences, celebrating the life of a man whose warmth and energy left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
