Maura Higgins is gearing up for her big-screen acting debut in The Spin, a feel-good Irish comedy that follows two struggling record shop owners on a road trip across Ireland.
The film marks a major milestone for the former Love Island star, who has built a successful career on reality TV and presenting roles before venturing into feature film acting.
The Spin, directed by Michael Head and written by Colin Broderick, stars Owen Colgan and Brenock O’Connor as Elvis and Dermot, two friends racing to Cork to secure a rare record that could save their failing business.
According to Daily Mail, Higgins plays Rose, a supporting character in the comedic ensemble.
Moreover, filmed across scenic locations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, The Spin blends music, friendship and infectious humor in a story inspired by local musician Mark McCausland’s semi-autobiographical experiences.
As per the outlet, the film has already made waves on the festival circuit, earning accolades such as the Best Irish Feature Film at the Dublin International Film Festival and additional honors abroad.
Furthermore, produced by Foxsake Films and supported by Tull Stories, The Spin is scheduled for release in cinemas across Ireland and the UK beginning October 2025, with the potential to introduce Higgins to new audiences beyond reality television.
