Mel Brooks, the iconic comedian, filmmaker and EGOT winner, has had a remarkable romantic history that mirrors the highs and lows of his legendary career, marked by two marriages that shaped his personal life.

Brooks first tied the knot in 1953 with Florence Baum, a Broadway dancer he met while working on television early in his career.

The couple welcomed three children, Stefanie, Nicholas and Edward, but faced mounting pressures as Brooks struggled professionally in his formative years.

Their marriage ended in divorce in 1962 after nearly a decade together.

Just two years later, Brooks’ romantic life took a dramatic turn when he met Anne Bancroft, the acclaimed actress known for her work on stage and screen.

According to People, the pair encountered each other at a rehearsal in 1961 and quickly formed a bond that blossomed into one of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships.

Moreover, they married in 1964 and later had a son, Max Brooks, who has since become a successful author and screenwriter.

Their marriage spanned more than four decades, with Bancroft offering unwavering support through Brooks’ rise to fame, including hit films like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein

As per the outlet, the couple remained devoted until Bancroft’s death from cancer in 2005, a loss Brooks has spoken about as profoundly life-changing.

Since Bancroft’s passing, Brooks has not remarried, often recalling their relationship as one rooted in deep affection and mutual respect.
