Former NBA star Lamar Odom has once again found himself in trouble with the law after being arrested for driving under the influence in Las Vegas.
The 46-year-old was stopped by police in the early hours of Saturday morning and booked on a DUI charge, along with two traffic violations.
According to court records, Odom is accused of speeding more than 41mph over the limit and failing to maintain his lane, including making an improper lane change.
The arrest is particularly troubling given Odom’s very public battle with addiction.
For the unversed, the former Los Angeles Lakers champion was previously arrested for DUI in 2013 and nearly lost his life two years later after a devastating overdose at a Las Vegas brothel.
In 2015, he was found unconscious after consuming a dangerous mix of cocaine, alcohol and cannabis, leaving him fighting for survival.
In his 2019 memoir Darkness to Light, Odom laid bare the extent of the medical nightmare.
He revealed his heart stopped twice, he suffered 12 seizures and six strokes, and was placed on life support as loved ones feared the worst.
The experience, he said, forced him to confront the destructive path he was on.
It's worth noting that Odom’s struggles also played a major role in the breakdown of his marriage to Khloé Kardashian, whom he wed in 2009 after just one month of dating.
Speaking last year, Khloé admitted she ultimately realised she “couldn’t want his life more than he did”, describing the painful moment that led her to file for divorce in 2013.
