Amy Poehler, who is known for her role in Mean Girls, was honoured at the 83rd Golden Globes Awards as she won in the new category Best podcast.
The 54-year-old actress got ahead of her former partner’s show SmartLess and other nominees in the category.
However, fans seem to be confused over the inclusion of this category alongside others at the prestigious event.
One of the critics shared their opinion on X (formerly Twitter), expressing: “I was surprised to see this category,” questioning the “reasons why it was included.”
While a netizen believes that the programme is not “really artistic,” another contradicted: “Proof that podcasts [is more than] everything right now.”
Meanwhile, an admirer called this a “full circle moment” as Amy won “an award at the show she used to roast.”
The Golden Globes included podcast in the award ceremony as the medium witnessed a “seismic growth” over the past year.
President Helen Hoehne stated that this addition is to make “room for new voices and formats to be heard,” while honouring “our heritage categories.”
It is to be noted that the show started last year in March 2025 where she has had conversations with notable people from the industry.
This includes her Parks co-stars, Saturday Night Live performers: Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza and Seth Meyers. She has also conversed with A-listers like Ariana Grande , Dakota Johnson and others.
