Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo spills his top texting buddies

Gaten Matarazzo is revealing which Stranger Things co-stars he chats with regularly.

On November 6, at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere in Los Angeles, Gaten shared the cast members whom he texts the most while speaking with PEOPLE.

At the premiere, the actor, 23, shared who he keeps in touch with from the cast.

“I'm texting Finny (Finn Wolfhard) and Caleb (McLaughlin) a ton all the time,” Gaten said. “They update a lot. They like a good meme and a good laugh. A good voice memo, too.”

Dustin from the hit sci-fi series shared that they exchange voice messages on a “frequent basis.”

Matarazzo and his Stranger Things co-stars have been with the show since its debut in 2015; he even shared a living space with Wolfhard, 22.

On Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast, Matarazzo opened up about rooming with his co-star during the filming of Season 5.

“It was great,” he said. “Kind of like a college experience.”

True to college life, keeping their apartment tidy proved tricky. “I would look around three months in and think, ‘This place is disgusting. What are we doing?’” he joked.

Asked who was messier, Matarazzo admitted, “We kind of match each other’s energy a little bit,” adding that their long friendship meant they “didn’t really hold each other to a standard.”

“We were kind of like, ‘Ah, f--- it. Whatever, man. We'll get to it later,’” he said.
