Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed the heartbreaking reason she packed up her life in Los Angeles
The Oscar winner, 53, opened up about the emotional shift that came after Apple, 21, and Moses, 19, her children with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, left for university.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she admitted the once-bustling house suddenly felt hollow.
“The city took a big hit during COVID, and the threads never quite came back together,” she said.
“And then I couldn’t face staying in that house without kids. That house without sleepovers and pancakes, I just couldn’t do it.”
Gwyneth and her husband Brad Falchuk have now traded the L.A. buzz for a quieter life, dividing their time between Montecito and Amagansett, a far cry from the Hollywood spotlight.
The actress confessed she never truly planned to settle in Los Angeles at all, explaining she only returned after her 2014 split from Martin because he preferred it to New York.
Still, she admits the city is “in her blood” and she built a “magical” chapter of life there while raising her children.
Now, with an empty nest and her globe-trotting Goop empire steady, she has stepped back into the spotlight, returning to acting in the sports drama Marty Supreme.
The Iron Man actress says filming in New York brought her closer to her kids on the East Coast, and unexpectedly rekindled her love for performing.
