The wait is finally over for Game of Thrones fans as the franchise’s official Instagram account confirmed the good news of another series hitting the screens sooner than expected.

George RR Martin’s upcoming show is the third of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise and is an adaptation of the Dunk and Egg novellas, a story revolving around a fierce Knight, Ser Duncan the Tall and his little yet witty squire, Egg.

The plot takes us back about a century before the events of the fan-favourite show, Game of Thrones.

Creators of the show took to Instagram to flaunt an official poster of the yet-to-be-released Game of Thrones spin-off and announced the final date of release for ‘A Knight of Seven Kingdoms’.

The show is set to be released coming January 18, 2026. The show stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall in the lead role alongside child star Dexter Sol Ansell playing the character of Egg.

Speculations are ongoing about their ‘real identities’ in the show. According to the novella's storyline, a strong character arc of both stars is expected, with Duncan transitioning into the “future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard”.

Egg, whose character seems mysterious yet fun from the trailer, is said to be “the future King Aegon V Targaryen.” The revelation left fans shocked yet thrilled for the series to be released to have a throwback into the Targaryn era.

However, Martin has previously admitted that the ending of the televised version of Game of Thrones differed and did not correspond with the original book's conclusion.

It is yet to be seen if the show will stick to the original and adventurous storyline of Martin’s previously published Tales of Dunk and Egg for its characters or will offer a new twist in the televised version.
