Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor would be “crushed” if his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were to “meet someone new,” according to a source who claims Fergie is “never going to give up on love.”
The former couple, married in 1986 and divorced in 1996, have remained unusually close over the decades, even continuing to share Royal Lodge until their recent eviction order following scandals tied to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Sources now say Sarah, 66, is open to a fresh start romantically, even as both she and Andrew face public disgrace and the loss of their royal titles.
Speaking to Closer, the insider revealed that Princess Beatrice is worried about how fragile her father might be if her mother begins a new relationship.
The source said: “[Sarah] has been devastated by recent events, but she’s never going to give up on love.”
They added that Sarah is “open about finding a proper gentleman to help her enjoy life, someone successful, kind and financially secure.”
According to the insider, Fergie even jokes that her “expensive taste” means she needs “a man who can keep up.”
But Beatrice reportedly fears her father’s emotional reaction: “She knows her dad would be crushed if Sarah met someone new and fears the thought of being alone will break his heart.”
However, the 37-year-old princess also wants what’s best for both parents, with the source concluding: “They’ve been separated for decades, and clinging to the past isn’t healthy.”
