The famous novel of the 2010s Chasing Red, is being adapted into a movie.

The novel was written by Isabelle Ronin which was first published on the online platform Wattpad.

It quickly became the the platform’s second most-read English-language title, with 261 million online reads, right behind the After series.

After the success of After, which was a Harry Styles fanfiction, Chasing Red will now be adapted into a movie.

The cast for the upcoming movie was announced on November 25.

Riverdale famed actress Madelaine Petsch will play the lead role of Veronica, meanwhile The Summer I Turned Pretty star Gavin Casalegno will feature as Caleb.

While the news of the book being turned into a movie made fans excited, the casting however has received mixed reviews.

A fan expressed her disappointment saying “CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL THEM TO RECAST”.

Another wrote “This was my favourite book but getting Gavin has just ruined it for me.”

There have been positive reviews as well as one fan wrote “Madelaine Petsch and Gavin Casalegno are perfect! That is a stunning visual pairing for the romance.”

The movie follows the story of Veronica, who is a dedicated college student and Caleb, the college heartthrob.

The blurb for the book explains it as “love and betrayal collide in this addictive, slow-burn romance.”
