Tyler, The Creator has received a major title for his success this year, but netizens are casting a shadow on his achievement.
The Marty Supreme actor has been named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year, but internet users are suggesting alternatives that would have been better suited for the honour.
A less mainstream artist, who goes by the name of ‘Jane Remover’ appears to be social media users pick for the title, since the producer has put out a number of new projects out this year, and has also sold out shows.
One X user, with the handle ‘ivy’ wrote on the platform,” i love tyler he's definitely the best mainstream artist out rn and he definitely deserves it. but there's an obvious artist of the year and it's not tyler.”
This propelled the discussion about the 22-year-old musician, as many users fought for them and others discovered them.
“I was thinking this would be alluding to Sabrina Carpenter, or Kendrick, or Chappell Roan, or Clipse and then I come down here and everybody in the comments talking about “Jane’s album"...who thee fuck is Jane???” wrote a netizen under the original post.
“Jane is making big money moves absolutely. But for Tyler to have one of the biggest, most exuberant tours in Rap history, followed by dropping an album during said tour, followed by releasing fashion lines…he’s…definitely the one,” added another, summing up some of the discourse.
The Josh Safdie directed film, Marty Supreme is loosely based on American table tennis player Marty Reisman.
