Zany Malik joined hands with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo to release new song EYES CLOSED as he marked a new era this year with several projects in line.
Although the duo has already gushed about each other through social media, the 32-year-old singer revealed some unknown facts about collaboration in an interview.
While speaking with BBC Radio1, Zayn admitted that it was the 30-year-old who “reached out and said she wanted to do a collaboration.”
The Pillowtalk hitmaker talked about the process of song selection and how the songstress admired one of the songs “that I’d already cut.”
The Pink Venom crooner went in first to add her “vocals” which were “re-cut” by Zayn who “went-in” again for the touch up.
He complimented her unique "vibe" of her voice, noting that the Flower singer is “obviously killing at the minute.”
The One Direction alum also acknowledged that the girl band is “all over the place.”
The musician agreed to the collaborative single due to two reasons, one to become “cool again” in the eyes of his and Gigi Hadid’s daughter, Khai, who is a “massive fan.”
He also confirmed not being “out [of] the game yet” despite extended hiatus and so decided to join hands with people like Jisoo, who are “owning [pop] genre at the minute.”
Towards the end of the clip, Zayn expressed his gratitude towards the Love To Hate Me singer “for giving me that opportunity.”
This came after the Dusk Till Dawn songmaker announced doing a Las Vegas residency, officially returning back to music. The shows are scheduled to take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM in January 2026.
