Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a permanent restraining order against a man who was arrested and warned to stay away.
The 27-year-old singer first sought protection after William Applegate allegedly appeared uninvited at her home on May 23.
Reportedly, police were called and he was arrested at the scene, but the situation escalated quickly.
Court documents claim Applegate returned to the property less than 24 hours later, before being confronted by security staff and leaving again.
He is then said to have come back a third time on May 25, triggering another police response.
Photographs of a man standing at the pop star’s front door were reportedly submitted as evidence.
Sabrina told the court she had never met or communicated with him, insisting, “William Applegate is a complete stranger to me. I have no desire to meet him or communicate with him.”
Now, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled that Applegate must stay at least 100 yards away from the Espresso hitmaker, her sister Sarah, and Sarah’s boyfriend George for the next five years.
Notably, after hearing evidence of what was described in court filings as “deliberate, calculated and aggressive” behaviour.
At the hearing, Applegate opposed the restraining order, but his arguments were rejected.
He later claimed the Please Please Please singer and her team were aware of his presence and bizarrely suggested her Coachella performances were “directed” at him.
The judge ultimately sided with the songstress, granting long-term protection and bringing legal weight to a case that had left the pop star feeling increasingly alarmed at her own doorstep.
