MCU actor Jeremy Renner is once again taking over headlines over allegedly appalling actions committed by him.
Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou has claimed that he sent her several explicit photos and pornographic materials, subjecting her to drunken tirades and then threatening to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when their relationship soured.
Zhou first exposed the details of his actions on social media before passing along the information to a news tabloid.
Having worked with him on a documentary and an animated movie, she said their relationship transformed from professional to unsettling.
The change took place during what Zhou called a routine meeting at his place, telling the Daily Mail, “I was discussing about the doc logistics, then he drank a bottle of wine alone and got angry and angry yelling for two hours. I had to location-share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me they know where I am.”
The director continued, “I had to lock myself in a room to be safe praying he would not come into the room at night as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life.”
She shared texts where she had reached out to her colleagues in fear to which they responded, “Can you lock yourself in the bathroom? He sounds crazy,” as she explained to them, “I did lock hope he can’t open. I'm [so] worried he yelled for 2 hours with one bottle of wine down alone.”
“It is with deep regret, sadness, and disappointment that I am compelled to share a truth I have been holding inside for too long,” Zhou admitted in an Instagram post.
Explaining how he shared inappropriate media with her several times, she stated that public reports confirm that he has done this before.
“When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” she detailed.
