Meghan Markle has shared new insight into her emotional state before leaving royal life behind, and her words are being seen as a subtle swipe at her time in the UK.

Speaking at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington DC, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, reflected on her life as a young mother before the 2020 royal exit, revealing that she spent her final months in Britain “nesting and healing.”

Discussing that pivotal period with Fortune’s Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell, Meghan said, “You know, Archie was so little, and I had just got pregnant with Lili around that same time, so we were nesting, nesting and healing.”

She added that she and Prince Harry had “no plan” for their future, focusing instead on “getting through the next couple of years” and “creating community.”

Her candid remarks have sparked online debate, with fans praising her honesty while critics called it another “dig” at royal life.
