Taylor Swift has earned a comment from her high school friend, Jeff Lang’s mom, after dedicating a number of songs from her discography to him.
The songwriter’s latest track, Ruin the Friendship is heavily speculated to be about him, since the 35-year-old sings about the regret of not kissing a classmate who later died, and her friend had passed away at twenty-one.
In an interview with The Tennessean, the mother of the late friend, Susan Lang, stated that she was amazed "that after all this time, she hasn't forgotten about him," referring to the 14-time Grammy winner.
Susan continued, "She's keeping his name alive, they were really good friends, that's rare these days. They hung out at her house a lot. They were always joking around with each other."
The mother of deceased also shared that she keeps a framed photo of a young Taylor and Jeff to honour him.
Meanwhile, the lyrics of the track read, “When I left school, I lost track of you / Abigail called me with the bad news /Goodbye, and we'll never know why.”
Notably, Taylor advocates for ruining friendships at the end of the song, telling listeners that they should take risks just incase they regret it later on.
Taylor’s childhood best friend is Abigail Anderson Berard, and the two have close for more than two decades.
