Jennifer Aniston reflects on turning down 'Saturday Night Live'

Jennifer Aniston, famously known for her iconic role as Rachel Green on the hit sitcom Friends, has made a surprising admission about Saturday Night Live.

The 56-year-old actress revealed that she once turned down the chance to join the long-running sketch comedy show, admitting she had a “self-righteous attitude” about it at the time.

Speaking on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, she recalled meeting SNL creator Lorne Michaels in New York before Friends came along. 

“I always thought I was such hot s***,” she laughed. 

“I remember running into Adam Sandler and David Spade outside Lorne’s office — I’d known Sandler forever.”

However, Jennifer said she was reluctant to join what she viewed as a “very male-dominated” environment. 

“I had this self-righteous attitude of, ‘I don’t know if women are treated the way they should be on this show.’ I would’ve loved to be there in the Gilda Radner days,” she explained.

Not long after that meeting, she landed her life-changing role on Friends.

Reflecting on it years later, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “I went into Lorne’s office and said, ‘I hear women aren’t respected on this show.’ Who the f*** was I to say that to Lorne Michaels?! So yes, adorably, that happened.”

The Murder Mystery actress has since hosted SNL multiple times and says she now “loves it so much.”
