Hollywood is in mourning following the heartbreaking death of beloved screen icon Diane Keaton, with stars from Leonardo DiCaprio to Goldie Hawn paying emotional tribute.
DiCaprio, who starred alongside Keaton in Marvin’s Room when he was just 18, shared a throwback photo with her from around the time they filmed together nearly three decades ago.
He wrote on his Instagram Story: “Diane Keaton was one of a kind. Brilliant, funny, and unapologetically herself. A legend, an icon, and a truly kind human being. I had the honour of working with her — she will be deeply missed.”
In the Jerry Zaks–directed drama, she portrayed Bessie, the aunt of the Titanic star’s troubled teen character, Hank, alongside an all-star cast that included Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro.
Goldie Hawn, her First Wives Club co-star, said her “heart is broken,” recalling their “roller coaster of love” on set and joking that the late Academy Award winner “can’t tell me to shut up anymore, honey.”
Jane Fonda remembered her Book Club co-star as a “spark of life and light,” while Mandy Moore called it “an honour of a lifetime” to play her daughter in Because I Said So.
Furthermore, Steve Martin, ever the comedian, also shared a cheeky throwback quip from Keaton: “You’re both idiots.”
Diane Keaton passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79.
Her death was confirmed by her family, who requested privacy as they mourned the beloved Oscar-winning actress known for classics like Annie Hall, The Godfather, and The First Wives Club.
