Jennifer Lopez backs Bad Bunny amid Super Bowl backlash: “Give Him a Chance”

Jennifer Lopez has come out swinging in defence of Bad Bunny after the Puerto Rican superstar faced backlash over being chosen to headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The 56-year-old singer, who co-led the iconic 2020 halftime performance with Shakira, urged critics to “give him a chance,” insisting that his Spanish lyrics shouldn’t be a barrier.

While appearing on CBS Mornings, she said: “Music and art transcend language. It doesn’t matter. He’s done that probably more than anybody of any generation.

The Super Bowl is about showing people who you are. It’s the biggest stage an artist could dream of, and I think it’s wonderful that people who don’t know him will finally get exposed to his talent.”

Lopez, who performed with Bad Bunny during her own halftime set, also gushed about his showmanship, telling TODAY: “We had an amazing time. It was a real cultural moment. He’s an incredible entertainer — I can’t wait to see what he does.”

However, not everyone is cheering. Members of the Trump administration have blasted the NFL’s decision, with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claiming officials “will regret” the move.

Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski even warned that ICE agents will be present at the event, saying: “There’s nowhere to hide for those in the country illegally — not even the Super Bowl.”

Despite the controversy, the songstress’s message was simple: “Don’t close yourself off to something wonderful. Just give it a chance.”
