Taylor Swift might have acted in supporting roles in several films, but she turned down a major fantasy franchise role in the late 2010s.
In conversation with Collider, during a panel at FanX Salt Lake Comic Con, Ian Somerhalder revealed that the pop queen was offered a role in The Vampire Diaries.
The discussion topic was the series’ season one soundtrack album, which the 49-year-old admitted sold over 15 million copies.
He was asked by the host if Taylor was ever asked to appear in the series, to which Ian replied, “I think Taylor Swift, we offered this role, and she was like No,” he laughed.
However, The Vampire Diaries lead recalled the time when the music queen Lady Gaga would visit the set while she was dating Taylor Kinney, who portrayed the werewolf, Mason Lockwood.
Ian confessed that it was a wild time whenever she would visit, “She would be on set, no bra, fishnets… hanging out, chewing gum, drinking coffee, watching her super handsome and awesome boyfriend on screen.”
He also revealed that every producer was suddenly on set, and major and minor actors who didn’t have shoot days would appear out of nowhere.
Notably, the Bejewelled hitmaker previously starred in the 2010 Valentine's Day film, which had a large ensemble cast including her ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner.
She then played Liz Meekins in the 2022 film, The Amsterdam, though her character was killed off early in the movie.
As of now, the Grammy winner is purely focused on her music and sometimes takes the lead in directing her music videos.
Taylor Swift portrayed a flirtatious cat named Bombalaurina; the director worked to give her a more subdued look for the serious role.
