Sean “Diddy” Combs, best known for building the Bad Boy Records empire, has been giving prison life a new sense of purpose.
The 55-year-old rapper and producer has swapped the music studio for a prison classroom, teaching fellow inmates how to hustle in business while awaiting sentencing.
Convicted in July on two felony prostitution charges, Diddy is due to face a judge in Manhattan on October 3.
But new court filings reveal that he has spent his time behind bars running a six-week course of his own creation, "Free Game With Diddy".
According to Rolling Stone, his legal team has submitted glowing reviews of the initiative to Judge Arun Subramanian in the hope of leniency.
These include a course outline, testimonials from inmates, and an evaluation from a unit counsellor who described the programme as “excellent”.
The class, billed as “an educational programme designed to equip participants with essential skills in business management, entrepreneurship and personal development,” was based on the Last Night hitmaker's own rise from “humble beginnings” to global mogul.
Notably, modules carried names with a motivational edge, such as Just Do It (goal-setting), Time Waits for No Man (deadlines), and The Marathon 26.2 (patience and sacrifice).
Moreover, assignments included essays on lessons from his career, with participants praising his influence.
One inmate wrote: “Because of this class I have a purpose.”
Another added: “He has shown us that small adjustments add up to big change.”
