British acting icon Dame Judi Dench is exploring her family connections to find out some hidden secrets.
The actress has turned into a detective to find a possible connection to English Literature’s greatest playwright William Shakespeare.
The Oscar-winning actress is launching her probe as part of a new Channel 4 documentary that explores her ancestral history, titled Shakespeare, My Family and Me, produced by Proper Job Films.
The film in 60 minutes long and follows Judi as she investigates whether her eight-times great-grandfather may have met Shakespeare in 1606.
In 1606, Shakespeare wrote three of his most celebrated works while England was swept by plague.
“It has been such an adventure to explore the possibility that an ancestor of mine might just have got within touching distance of my hero William Shakespeare.”, Judi said.
She also expressed how she has felt playing roles in Shakespeare’s adaptations and how she feels a genuine “passion for him and his work”.
The acting legend will go through the Danish archives in search of evidence of her link to Shakespeare.
She will also examine historical records piecing together the story.
