Justin Baldoni, who is the director of It Ends With Us, took an unexpected decision to strengthen his legal backing.
While the 41-year-old was previously being represented by Bryan Freedman, Justin turned to Alexandra Shapiro who recently defended Diddy in his sex trafficking and racketeering case.
According to Us Weekly, the court documents mentioned that Alexandro “would be joining as counsel for Baldoni.”
She is a criminal defence lawyer who has also defended FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried along with the Bad Boy Records owner.
This move is to counter the plaintiff Blake Lively, who was the filmmaker’s co-star in the adaptation of Colleen Hover’s novel.
The Gossip Girl alum took filed a lawsuit against Justin, accusing him of sexual harassment and a smear campaign.
After Blake, another alleged victim came forward with a similar complain that further added to the scrutiny that he faced in the past few months.
Moreover, the actress marked a “true victory” after the director’s retaliatory suit was dismissed due to lack of defamation’s evidence.
Instead of refiling, the Clouds filmmaker’s lawyers announced they would continue to defend their client in the initial case.
Although the depositions have already begun, the court trials are expected to commence in March 2026, next year.
