Jimmy Kimmel taken off air: internet reacts

In a shocking turn of events, veteran host Jimmy Kimmel is being taken off air due to supposed offensive comments.

The comments in question were made about the recent assassination of conservative Charlie Kirk, as well as US President Donald Trump.

"The Maga Gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” said Kimmel in the clip

"This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish," he added about Trump, who he has called out frequently.

The internet quickly reacted to the news as one user remarked about his comments on X, “This is so mild… Which snowflakes are mad about this?????? Whatever happened to freedom of speech. People will have an issue with this, but will turn a blind eye to all the racist and sexist nonsense that deceased man spewed.”

“So Kimmel tells the obvious truth that MAGA is bending over backwards to twist the Kirk shooting into a culture war talking point — and suddenly he’s too ‘dangerous’ for TV? Networks bowing to right-wing tantrums faster than they ever act on actual hate speech,” observed another.

Even those against the host found the situation to be over the top, as this user said, “I hate Kimmel but this feels way over the top. Why is THIS comment landing him in so much trouble? He has gotten SO many things wrong!”
