Ed Sheeran, who recently made headlines with the release of his album Play, has shared insights into the challenges he faced during the early years of his career.
The 34-year-old pop sensation, famed for hits like Perfect and Shape of You, admitted he was deeply unhappy during the first ten years of his music journey.
In an interview with The Sun, he revealed that work consumed him entirely, leaving little room for anything else.
“I think in the first decade of my career I was intensely unhappy as I had no balance, I was just work, work, work. I had no personal life at all,” he said.
Ed explained that his outlook on life changed after starting a family with his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
The Grammy-winning singer is a father to daughters Lyra, five, and three-year-old Jupiter, and he now prioritises family over career.
“The stage I am at in my career is that I am really happy and settled. The biggest thing for me is being able to balance being a dad and a husband,” he added.
Moreover, he acknowledged that in his 20s he worked “16 hours a day” to reach superstardom, but he now takes a gentler approach.
For the unversed, his eighth studio album, Play, released on September 12, features 13 tracks, including Sapphire and Azizam.
Moreover, the Photography crooner is set to begin the European and Australian legs of his Play tour on December 1, following performances in Las Vegas at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
English singer Ed Sheeran tied the knot with former field hockey player Cherry Seaborn in January 2019.
The couple reportedly started dating around 2015, having been friends since their school days in Suffolk, England.
