Leonardo DiCaprio is returning to the silver screen in One Battle After Another as the opposite of Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
The Oscar-winning actor leads as Bob Ferguson, with Regina Hall as Deandra in the movie based on Thomas Pynchon's 1990 thriller novel Vineland.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, DiCaprio compared his character to the dauntless stunt actor, who does risky missions by himself.
"He's trying to raise a daughter, and he doesn't know how to do it right, when his daughter gets captured," the Titanic actor said. "Why take the bathrobe off? You gotta go. You gotta go get your girl."
DiCaprio further quipped on his character: "It's like the opposite of Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible. [Bob] does everything wrong. And he doesn't land or stick any of his stunts.”
The story of Pynchon's adapted novel centres on a group of ex-revolutionaries who reunite against a rival re-emerging after 16 years.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another boasts a star-studded supporting cast, featuring Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn.
One Battle After Another opens in theatres on Sept. 26.
