Supermodels and faces of luxury brands, best friends Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, spill on their first meeting as teenagers after they met online.
Fashion week regulars, they became friends when they were teenagers, and over a decade of showing off their friendship in the public arena, on red carpets, and in the pages of magazines, Hadid and Jenner are revisiting the memory of their first meeting.
In an interview for a Vogue cover story, Hadid and Jenner recalled their first proper meeting.
Although the details weren’t coherent, they revealed that after connecting via Twitter, they first met in Jenner’s New York apartment, where Bella came with Gigi, and Hailey Bieber might have been there too.
As they look back on their friendship, Jenner candidly asked Hadid why she doesn’t ride horses anymore, despite having moved out of New York to a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania with her daughter, Khai.
“I guess the priority for me is giving Khai my time when I’m with her. And when I’m not with her, that’s when I work,” Hadid said.
Hadid, who once thrived as a competitive equestrian and volleyball player, admits she misses the thrill of competition the most.
Jenner, meanwhile, encourages revisiting passions from youth. “I’d recommend going back to something you loved doing as a kid,” she said, noting it’s the same advice she gave their friend Hailey to reconnect with ballet. “It’s therapeutic, nostalgic — good for the soul.”
Hadid agrees, saying she’s been reflecting on that very idea, finding “things that bring back childlike joy.”
