Miley Cyrus slams mom Tish Cyrus’s bad relationship advise

Miley Cyrus, best known for her Grammy-winning anthem Flowers, has cheekily blamed her mum, Tish Cyrus, for her dodgy dating choices.

The 31-year-old singer, who rose to fame as the star of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, revealed that her mother’s relationship advise wasn’t exactly helpful during her younger years.

In an interview with The Cut, the songstress laughed as she recalled her past struggles in love.

“Mum’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy ‘cause they’re hot,” she confessed.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker, who was once married to Liam Hemsworth, admitted that she eventually had to work out the right path for herself.

“I had to learn the hard way because my mummy taught me the wrong way and then I had to learn the right way by myself.”

“I ended up with a person who means a lot to me, treats me really well and respects me,” Miley said of her current boyfriend, drummer Maxx Morando, whom she has been dating since 2021.

Tish, who married Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell in 2023, has also faced scrutiny from her daughters.

Brandi Cyrus confessed on a podcast that she was nervous about her mum rushing into another marriage so soon after divorcing Billy Ray Cyrus.

How did Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando’s relationship begin?

Miley Cyrus met Maxx Morando in 2021 on a blind date set up by mutual friends. 

The pop star joked it was only “blind” for her, since Maxx already knew who he was meeting.

The pair kept things low-key at first before making their public debut at a Versace show in 2023.

By 2024, they had moved in together in Malibu, marking a big step in their relationship.
