Selena Gomez is receiving widespread hate for allegedly getting work done on her face, and Grimes is speaking up against the critics.
In her latest music video, In The Dark, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum looked different than usual to netizens, which caused widespread harassment and body shaming remarks to come to the surface.
This prompted the Canadian singer to use her platform on X (previously Twitter) to speak against the backlash at length.
“I've been in the internet for like 48 hours and despite minor benefits I might have to leave. Watched this Selena Gomez video, besides a few weird derp shots that ppl were able to clip and super misrepresent how she looks she looks extremely beautiful,” Grimes wrote.
The 37-year-old continued that Selena is one of the most girls, turning on internet users and telling them to think how all the hate would feel if it was directed towards them and how much it might impact someone’s mental health.
Grimes added towards the end “this being socially acceptable behavior is culture death - not just for the Selena or the writer but everyone who sees this and engages with this level of dehumanization,” referring to the post she was replying to.
Notably, the original poster had compared how the Who Says singer had looked to an ‘X Files monster’ and that South Korean women look much better after going under the knife for cheaper, than Hollywood celebrities.
Grimes and Elon Musk share three children together throughout their tumultuous, on-and-off relationship.
