The Weeknd, whose original name is Abel Tesfaye, wrapped up the North American leg of his final-ever musical tour After Hours Til Dawn with a bombshell.
Abel, who is currently headlining a tour, is nearing the retirement of his famous persona.
To make this good-bye a special one, the 35-year-old released a bonus track Closing Night, which indicates the end of his long journey.
The artist took to his social media to announce the launch with the cover of the track, featuring what appears to the Blinding Lights hitamker standing on a stage.
A verse of the melody, presumably talking to his own persona, goes: “One last time and I’ll let you make your case… One last time ‘cause you’re playin’ in my face.”
Seemingly yearning for freedom, he writes: “I just wanna go back to the simple times that made me trust you… Cause the weight of my past doesn’t feel so heavy which I’m with you.”
Soon after the announcement, fans insisted they want it on the streaming services, including “Spotify.” While another X user wrote: “He will be missed.”
The Grammy winner took the stage as The Weeknd with Playboi Carti and Mike Dean for the last time in San Antonio to wrap up the North American leg.
The artist is touring ahead of retirement to support his albums After Hours, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow, which was his sixth studio record.
