Netflix recently sent fans into a frenzy after dropping an exclusive first look at Emily Henry’s film, People We Meet on Vacation.
On September 2, the pictures showed the lead actor, Tom Blyth, and actress, Emily Bader, in different scenes dressed as their respective characters from the novel.
Earlier this year, the author, Henry, watched the first cut of the film and in the first 20 minutes she admitted, “By the end, I felt so emotional and I even cried a little.”
Previously, she had revealed that she wanted to make sure the fans loved the storyline for the film as much as they loved the book.
Netizens took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their excitement about the upcoming film. One fan wrote, “Vacation + romance = instant watchlist.” Another well-wisher penned, “Marking the calendar.”
Notably, in conversation with Harper’s BAZAAR, Bader explained the coincidence she experienced when she got the call for the role.
“I was about to go on summer vacation, and my best friend was grilling me on Emily Henry's stuff." The 28-year-old admitted and added that she was in Europe when she got the call for a meeting and jumped at the opportunity.
The rom-com is directed by Brett Haley and written by Yulin Kuang. It follows the story of Poppy and Alex, two best friends who have been vacationing every summer for the past 10 years until their fall out.
For the unversed, People We Meet on Vacation will premiere on January 9, 2026.
Four books by Emily Henry are in the pre-production stage, with the Beach Read screenplay being penned by Sarah Heyward, while Henry herself is writing the script for Funny Story.
