Selena Gomez’s character, Alex Russo, revealed a shocking plot twist in the second season of the Disney sequel, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
The scene was posted by an X (formerly Twitter) user, which showed the 33-year-old crying while talking to her on-screen daughter, Billie.
In the video, Gomez’s character, Russo, assures the young wizard that she loves her and that she will come back to get her. Billie replies, “I love you too, mommy.”
Though the scene was leaked, it didn’t stop netizens from being surprised in the comment sections. One fan wrote, “WHATSTATS OMG.” Another follower penned, “I already knew this, but I'm still shocked.”
However, the audience claims the show hinted at the relationship earlier in season one when Alex Russo hesitates while saying, “and my…..Billie is out there.”
Notably, Gomez is an executive producer of the series and has guest roles in a few episodes. In November 2024, she confirmed on Instagram alongside co-star David Henrie that she will reprise her role as Alex Russo.
The Disney Channel sequel is set fifteen years after the events of the original series. It follows Justin Russo, who’s settled in Staten Island with his wife and two sons, until his sister, Alex, asks for his help to train a young wizard named Billie.
For the unversed, the first season premiered in October 2024 with 21 episodes, and the second season was announced in March 2025. It will be released on September 12 and will have 10 episodes.
Yes, Selena Gomez is getting married to her fiancé, Benny Blanco. The couple announced their engagement in December 2024 and will reportedly get married in September 2025.
